| Ethels Vintage Trunk.....How Did It Get Here! (Aside from a great deal of strength and killer heels!)
Ever looked at an old photograph and wondered what the story was behind it? Well I did too and this is what brings me here today!
Ethel, moi, a 24 year old lady from London with a passion for all things vintage, retro, kitsch and kooky!!
I remember being dragged around car boot sales as a child and thinking 'what on earth am I doing here!'. Some how since then, things have some what changed! My mum always has a little laugh now as the tables have turned! In my late teens I developed a passion for vintage fabrics and clothing, loving the bright colours, elegant designs and quirky one off patterns. This bought me to trawl around the shops and market places of West London browsing through rails of pretty things. Browsing evidently led on to buying...and buying...and buying!!!! It could have been anything from a brooch to a cocktail shaker, as soon as I saw it, I would envision what cabinet, room or dresser it should be sitting on and I was enthralled. It's like being 'A kid in a candy shop!'. All this buying eventually led me to here....
In my mind I have visions of having a huge victorian house filled with rooms of trinkets and beautiful dresses spilling out of drawers. A large Boudouir with mirrors and jewels. Psychadelic wallpaper and a mirror ball in the living room. This has not happened yet but I am sure that it one day will. In the meantime I am sharing the contents of my trunk with you. I want you to fill your homes and rooms with all matters quirky and kitsch.
I want to find out more about my passion. I want to listen to other views on the now so popular 'vintage world' and continue to collect and gain knowledge about different era's and designs. I also want you to have a browse through my trunk and treat yourselves!
My style is a mixture of modern and vintage and Ethel is definately my vintage side! I have bought her out here on this site to share with the world and I hope that you like what you see!
My passions do not just rest at collecting quirky pieces....I also love to make them! From time-to-time I will be showcasing items that I have handmade from scratch using recycled materials and vintage fabrics. This is an opportunity for me to progress and for you lucky people out there to get your hands on some one off items!
So, as I sit here in my Dame Edna specs and fluffy slipper heels I am going to sign off, retire to my boudoiur and hope to see you all very soon!
Happy browsing my beauties
